University Academy is a college preparatory school located on a 13 acre urban campus directly north of Holmes Park. The three story facility is designed to communicate an outward image of tradition, strength and higher education. The facility is designed to house over 1,000 students in Grades K – 12.

Architecturally the facility has been designed to maximize personal connections between students, staff and parents. This concept both architecturally and educationally responds to a growing trend of achieving better personalization in schools. The facility operates as a 500 student Lower School (Grades PreK-6) and a 500 student Upper School (Grades 7-12). One key design feature is that each schools is further broken down into smaller learning communities called "Academic Houses". Each house typically will contain only two grade levels of students approximately 166 students. Within the house are student and staff restrooms, locker areas, small meeting rooms as well as core interdisciplinary classrooms. In order to attract and retain the best faculty available University Academy faculty planning centers offers private two person offices, private staff restrooms, faculty break area and conference area. These planning centers are also located at the entry to each house to provide a "passive" security and supervision for all students.

Central to the academic houses is a large Library Media Center which is shared by both the Upper and Lower Schools and is designed for after-hours public usage. A Professional Resource Library, Distance Learning Labs, Computer Lab, Conference Rooms and Restrooms are all available to Media Center users.

The Facility also boasts a 550 Seat Auditorium with full stage, fly-loft and supporting scenery shop, dressing rooms and catwalks. Three large band, choir & orchestra rooms with recording capability are directly adjacent to the Performing Art Center. For Physical Education a large competition gymnasium with seating for over 1000 students is provided. Secondary gymnasium, locker rooms, weight rooms and a dance studio allows for a variety of opportunities.

Within the design of University Academy are spaces to provide for Community outreach programs and to encourage community use of the building. A large, sophisticated conference rooms is central to this portion of the building. Restrooms and kitchen are directly adjacent to over a dozen offices for outside community agencies to provide services to the students, parents and staff of University Academy.
