Ervin Early Learning Center
Kansas City, MO

Ervin Early Learning Center is 110,000 SF remodel of an abandoned middle school and will now serve an integrated facility that will serve parents, students and the community. The existing facility had been vacant for nearly 4 years when Hollis + Miller was brought on board to address roof, building envelope and environmental issues. The new ELC is designed to accommodate the districts entire 600 Kindergarten student enrollment and an additional 300 Pre-Kindergarten students. By relocating all the kindergarten students to the new facility, the district gained classroom space at each individual elementary school without increasing the district’s total elementary school square footage. Ervin ELC will provide a strong literacy focus assisted by implementing 21st Century Learning Concepts such as Small Group, Large Group, Collaboration, Activity and Flexible Learning Spaces incorporated strategically throughout the facility.
