Humboldt Fieldhouse

Humboldt Fieldhouse
Humboldt, KS

The Humboldt Community Fieldhouse is the result of numerous community meetings and the community wanting to have a facility large enough to host tournaments as well as provide a walking track for the community’s use.  By including all the community’s requests and desires, the bond issue was successful.

Humboldt is a small Kansas community with a large elderly population.  The school district has provided card access to the patrons of the District to utilize the walking track and other cardio equipment on the mezzanine level of the Fieldhouse.

The 22,000 square foot facility was built by Prosser-Wilbert Construction acting as the Construction Manager for the District.

Other limited renovations were completed as a part of the Bond Issue within the 1922 and 1950 High School Building.  The main office was relocated from the second floor to the ground floor adjacent to the south, main level entry.  The music program was relocated to the 1922 Auditorium  freeing up space to create a large weight room adjacent to the new Fieldhouse.

Hollis + Miller was able to work closely with Prosser-Wilbert to design a facility that met all the requirements of the District and to bring the project in within the budget established by the passage of the Bond Issue.  The facility also blends well with the 1922 historic high school and other buildings and additions on the campus.
